PackRat's newest mini-game in the arcade is a slots-style game called Ratbeard's Adventure! In this pirate-themed game, you wager tickets by selecting a card in your Pack that has at least 5 CTV (card ticket value). When you spin the wheel, the amount of tickets you bet is deducted from the card, and when you win tickets, they are added back to the card. In addition to winning tickets, you can win draw cards, and other cards with CTV.
To play, click the Arcade icon at the top of the screen, and select 'Ratbeard's Adventure'
From there, click/tap the 'Continue' button:
After clicking continue, click the "select card" box:
You will be shown the cards in your Pack. You can pick any card, even a card without any CTV. If you pick a card without CTV, you can transfer any amount of tickets you want (max of 1500) from your account to the card. But otherwise, you can simply pick a card in your Pack that has at least 5 CTV. In this case, a Gold Tuft Mushroom card with 70 CTV was chosen.
You can click/tap the bottom right corner of the screen to cycle through different bet amounts: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 50, and 100 tickets. You need to have at least the same amount of ticket value on your card as the bet amount. For example, if you have a card with 70 CTV, the highest you can bet is 50:
After you select bet amount, hit "spin" on the ship's helm, and the three reels will spin. Payouts for the various combinations of spins can be seen below:
As you play, tickets are added to the card, or deducted to the card, based on wins and losses. Both the hover over box and the "Current CTV" window at the top left of the Pirate Ship let you know exactly how much CTV is currently on the card. The "Last Win" window at the top right of the Pirate Ship lets you know how many tickets were added back to the card after the last spin. This can vary from 0 to the jackpot.
The sequence below shows a card with 77 CTV. The player is on the 5 ticket bet amount.
As soon as they hit 'spin,' the CTV of the card drops by 5 to 72 CTV while the reels spin:
As soon as the reels stop spinning and your winnings are shown, they are added back to the card. In this not-so-great spin, the player won back 2 tickets, taking the card value from 72 to 74 CTV:
If you run out of CTV on a card you're wagering with, you will be shown a pop up that you no longer have enough tickets to play, along with the option to add tickets to the card to continue playing. You may add any amount, from 1 ticket to 1,500, which will be deducted from your ticket account and added to the card:
In this case, the player has typed in 50 CTV, and clicked add. They are shown a pop up confirming they're about to spend 50 tickets on this card:
After clicking "confirm," the player is shown another pop up alerting them to the amount of CTV the card now has:
Alternatively, if you run out of CTV on a card you're using to play and you'd rather not continue playing with that card, you can choose another card from your Pack, either one that already has CTV on it, or one that does not. If it does not have CTV on it, you will be prompted to add tickets before being allowed to play:
More about CTV
If you ultimately want some of the tickets tied to a card added back into your ticket account, make sure to select a card from a set you have not feated yet. You only get a portion of the tickets tied to a card back at the time you feat a set; any time after that, you do not get tickets back. What percentage of tickets you get back depends on when you Feat a collection. Here's the breakdown:
- Feat a set within the first hour it's featable (meaning the last card has been published, and all can be collected and added to your vault), and you get 65% of the tickets invested in that set (across all cards).
- Feat a set within the first 24 hours it's featable, and you get 50% back.
- Feat a set within the first week it's featable, and you get 35% back.
- Feat the set at any point after the first week, before or after the set retires, and get 20% back.
Important Note:
PackRat has always had a limit for how many cards a player can win in a given 24 hour period before they're prevented from winning more; this limit has been in place since FlipRat debuted over a decade ago, and the limit has not changed. However, we will now show you a pop up as you approach that limit so you know that you'll soon not be able to win any more cards until the 24 hour timer resets.
